RVA IMC needs new editors, radio and tech help

RVA IMC needs new volunteer editors, radio-hosts, and site programmers (techies). Please email us at editors (at) richmondindymedia.org if you are interested.
We need help. The Richmond Independent Media Center is currently short-handed and in need of volunteers. The roles that require reinforcements are site editors, radio-show hosts/producers, and techie/programmers. Volunteers with RVA IMC work on their own terms, giving whatever amount of time they choose to dedicate to this ongoing experiment in participatory media.

Some of us consider ourselves media activists, others just passionate progressives who want to amplify grassroots voices. You don't have to be either, but if you want to help, we'd really like to hear from you. Just drop a line to editors (at) richmondindymedia.org and let us know that you want to become more involved.

We're particularly in need of more Richmond representation, but we're open to help from all over the state. We wish to reflect the diversity of Virginia's communities. Women, people of color, different abilities, and gender expression are encouraged to participate fully in this resource.

This IMC collective has a loose structure. We don't have regular physical meetings. Most of our discussions take place online. If you've been looking for a way to add to the movement, but are reluctant to join a group, this may be the perfect project for you.

This site does not administer itself, although egalitarianism is automated into the software. The radio-show doesn't come about on its own, but the simple concept of reflecting the stories and perspectives that users contribute to this site make the 30 minutes go by pretty fast (Tuesdays at 12:30pm on WRIR 97.3 FM). The project of RVA IMC has evolved over time with periods of intense activity and occasional doldrums. Chances are, there is a place for you in our future history.

Again, just drop us a line at editors (at) richmondindymedia.org.

ps: Editors and contributers, why don't you add a comment here to help reinforce this request for volunteers?
