Urgency vs. Patience

Urgency vs. Patience

American Dissident Voices Broadcast of
February 9, 2008

Erich Gliebe found "the absolute worst place to recruit was at a golf course."

Hello, and welcome to this week's broadcast of American Dissident Voices, the Internet radio program of the National Alliance. I'm your host and Chairman of the Alliance, Erich Gliebe.

It goes without saying that the plight of our race today is a perilous one. By itself, our birthrate -- relative to the birthrate of nearly every non-White race on the planet -- should be a cause for concern for any farsighted White person.

But not only are we falling behind in the breeding war, we are also losing what little White living space we have left. We are losing our homelands. Every traditionally White nation is being swamped with non-White aliens, an invasion that was conceived and is carefully controlled and monitored by the Jewish establishment. This darkening of the West, coupled with the brainwashing by the Jewish media, the churches, and the schools, is causing more of our young people to mix their blood with that of the non-White races. In America today, rarely can one go to a public place and not see mixed-race couples or mongrel children.

On top of all this, our enemies are tightening the legal thumbscrews on us. They are broadening the definition of "hate crime" and invoking that legislation more than ever. They are outlawing the traditional White values of freedom of speech and freedom of assembly. They are going after patriots with bogus criminal charges; they are ensuring that bail is set exorbitantly high; they are illegally locking up opponents of the Jews indefinitely; they are ignoring the right of the accused to a speedy trial. The recent railroading of former National Alliance Chairman Shaun Walker demonstrates these unfortunate realities all too well.

And our race's fortunes are non-linear. Things went downhill very slowly and gradually at first, but the rate of decay has accelerated over the years. As such, the decay and destruction of our race and civilization is far advanced, William Gayley Simpson, author of Which Way Western Man?, has said that he sensed that the West was declining as far back as 1920, when he was yet a young man. George Lincoln Rockwell, Dr. Revilo P. Oliver, and Dr. William Pierce recognized this decay and began their activities in the 1950s and 1960s. And here we are, half a century later, seemingly on the verge of the abyss, with the possibility that our race will stay on its non-linear path and nosedive into extinction.

Every Alliance member and every White person of good will tuning in to this broadcast, therefore, should feel some sense of urgency in moving ahead with our plans. We need to grow in numbers and capabilities; we need to expand our media outreach network and reach a larger segment of the White public; we need to be better organized and more active on the local level. And we need these things as soon as possible. No White racialist should feel that there is nothing he can do in this effort. At the very least, he can support our programs financially as well as his means allow. We do our best to watch our costs and not be wasteful, but it is also true that nothing we do is possible unless we have the money to make it happen.

Often, this sense of urgency becomes all too evident when we are discussing things with a receptive listener who is new to racialist thinking. We are too excited or we talk too fast. We do too much talking and not enough listening. We want this new guy to immediately absorb and take to heart all that we have learned about race and the Jews and the Upward Path in our own personal journeys, many of which are years or even decades old. We sound frantic and strident and, as a result, we turn off and lose the recruit we had such high hopes for.

The same hysterical tone can come through when we compose a letter to the editor of the local newspaper. Occasionally, one of our members will submit a letter decrying, say, the building of new, government-subsidized housing projects and the rapid influx of non-Whites who will live there. A well-written letter on such a subject is an influential hook for the honest, mainstream White person of good will. On the other hand, a letter with alarmist overtones does more harm than good.

I've found through personal experience that the best method to spread our message is through personal, one-on-one recruiting. There is an actual art to this, and two of the main attributes a successful recruiter must have are patience and persistence. One of the most productive members we have in the Alliance took me three years to recruit. During that time I must've called him three times a week and continuously sent him audio cassette tapes of Dr. Pierce's American Dissident Voices broadcasts. I never once thought of giving up on that person because I saw firsthand how his knowledge and desire to actually do something for Our Cause were growing every week. I also realized that due to his professional line of work, he was a bit nervous about joining a pro-White organization and didn't want his political beliefs made public. I respected his wishes, and eventually he felt comfortable enough to join the Alliance and work behind the scenes for the most noblest of causes.

But always keep in mind, however, if you are not making any visible progress after spending a considerable amount of time with your potential recruit, you may want to taper things off, and start looking elsewhere for someone who will respond in a more timely manner. Just remember to always keep things balanced in the battle for White survival and don't forget the urgency vs. patience factors, as we are not blessed with a whole lot of time to solve our problems.

And since we are always emphasizing quality over quantity in our ranks, be selective in who you are spending your time and resources on. Don't waste your precious time on someone who can barely keep his own life in order. It's just like the sport of fishing. When you cast your line out there, the hope is that you'll be bringing in a nice-sized catch. If you reel in a tiny blue gill, not only will it have no meat on it, but you'll be wasting your time and bait and end up throwing the fish back in the water. The trick is always to know where the big fish are lurking so that way you'll have a better chance of a better quality catch.

And by being persistent and investing your time you are playing a numbers game. The more you throw your net out there and the more prospective recruits you reach, the greater the odds that you'll be finding the high caliber White racial activists and supporters that you are looking for.

Of course, always be aware of your surroundings and learn from your experiences. Back when I was a recruiter under Dr. Pierce, I literally tried to get the Alliance's message out at every single type of venue or congregation of White people. I found the absolute worst place to recruit was at a golf course. The guys at the country club could care less about the survival of the White race; they had it too good in life and refused to look beyond their golf game and the sporting event that was being shown on the clubhouse's big screen TV. I remember one time leafleting two hundred cars in a golf course parking lot and sitting back to watch the White men's reaction to the Alliance's message. For the most part, the majority of the golfers were too lazy to even pick up the flier and read it; they just turned on their windshield wipers and knocked the fliers off as they drove away. What a waste!

I always keep in mind the 20/80 rule, in that 20% of the people in any group do 80% of the work. So sometimes it doesn't hurt to find activists from another walk of life, say European ethnic, environmental, or gun rights activists. These people are proven go-getters, but we just have to sell them on our issues and make them fully aware that if our genetic code ceases to exist, then all else is meaningless.

It is my belief that our members have the most trouble reigning in their sense of urgency when recruiting one-on-one. Recruits feel the most pressure in these situations, since all of your attention is directed at them. If you have a potential recruit, invite him to a cultural festival, a Local Unit meeting, or another gathering. You will be more comfortable around other members, and the recruit doesn't feel like he's in the spotlight, with us staring at him, waiting for him to decide if he wants to join us or not. It is for this reason that we have worked so hard at building the real-world Alliance community. Communal gatherings are great outreach tools and provide a more indirect -- but no less powerful -- method of showing a potential recruit that, above all, the Alliance is a community that is striving for goals that will eventually aid all White people worldwide.

When recruiting, listen to the recruit. Learn what concerns him most, and structure your conversation accordingly. Speak with the clarity and calmness that comes from knowing that you are right, but don't push him or expect a "Hell, yes! Count me in!" right away. Most of us, I would guess, needed some time to think things over before we committed our lives to the mission of the Alliance. After all, years of being inundated with the Jewish party line -- including all through childhood and the teenage years -- takes its toll, and only the truth coupled with time can change hearts. As the old saying goes, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." I might add that he'll drink when he's thirsty. We want recruits who choose to be with us because that's what they want, not because they finally give in to a browbeating recruiter.

We must ride carefully the fine line between urgency and patience, particularly with regard to our outreach efforts. We must be passionate, but not overbearing. We must communicate our people's problems, but not force our ideas down another person's throat. We must be sincere, but not sentimental. And we must live the truth that we are visionaries of a positive future, not grumpy cranks of a dismal present.

Perhaps the best way to balance urgency and patience is steadiness. Individually, steadiness means that we accept the fact that our mission is far from over; we must mentally prepare ourselves for the long haul and vow to pull our share of the load. On the local level, steadiness means to keep at it: gun shows, cultural festivals, demonstrations, and so on. As an organization, steadiness means that the Alliance inches closer to its ultimate goal every month -- month after month, year after year, for however long it takes.

Earlier, I mentioned that our race's fortunes have declined non-linearly, and I suggested that a sudden worsening of our plight would put us in real dire straights. Certainly, our enemies have noticed our declining situation and are hoping for that final plunge that would signal our end. But hope is by no means lost. In fact, I believe that our enemies -- and most of us, too -- have forgotten that the fortunes of Our Cause are also non-linear… but in the other direction. There is no doubt that the Alliance has grown enormously since the 1970s, when Dr. Pierce ran things out of a tiny office in Washington, D.C. Our work, in combination with everything George Bush and the next president have done or represent, could make things turn around for us in a hurry.

We only have control over what we do. Let's be outwardly calm and inwardly urgent. Let's be sincere, passionate, and steady. Let's make the most out of each day we have, and work for the day when our fortunes spike upward and those of the Jews plummet into an unsalvageable tailspin.

I'm Erich Gliebe, and thanks for being with me again today.
