Dalit Baum joins Planning Meeting for Norfolk Mothers Day Event

The planning meeting for the third annual Norfolk Peace Coalition Mothers Day Event was held today at an organizers home in Smithfield VA.

A very special guest, Dr. Dalit Baum who graciously added this visit to her VAWN (Virginia AntiWar Network) tour, provided a great deal of inspiration and guidance to the groups inaugural meeting.

The intimate setting allowed for engaging discussion about the parallels of the Palestinian struggle and victories against the apartheid wall and the role of women in the social justice movement.

Particular note was given to the scope and focus of this year’s event, while building on the core values of peace and justice. The participation of several high school students along with other activists from the Norfolk area suggest that this Mothers Day event will be an empowering, entertaining and informative experience for the community.

The groups next meeting will be March 12th prior to the MFSO Statewide Speaking Tour stop in Norfolk, Va. Details of which will soon be announced through the RegimeChanger.Com website, VAWN and the Richmond IMC.

The Norfolk Peace Coalition offers their sincere thanks to Dr. Baum, VAWN, Muna Hijazi, ‘Trouble’ and Jerry Tenney for their generous contributions. Photos provided courtesy of
