A Media Blackout: Media Blackout of Labor Opposition to Iraq War Continues

"You wouldn't know it from reading, watching, or listening to the "mainstream" media, but many of the largest labor organizations in the United States have passed resolutions demanding that U.S. troops be brought home from Iraq and the war be ended...."

This story is by a senior at William and Mary who is working for James City County and a new UE member. TLSC stands for the Tidewater Labor Support Committee and is the group of faculty and students that began the living wage campaign on the William and Mary campus. Richmond Eternalizes Gabriel

With burning frankincense blowing in the air to the soft beating of a drum, Richmond memorialized 18th century revolutionary slave Gabriel on Sunday by unveiling a historical marker on 15th and Broad Streets that will remind generations to come of Gabriel’s fight demanding freedom and equality for African Americans in Virginia.

“This city of Richmond may take little notice of what we do here this evening, but with this marker it can never forget what Gabriel did,? said descendant of Gabriel Dr. Haskell Bingham at the unveiling ceremony that was attended by more than 50 people. The Elegba Folklore Society led the ceremony by pouring a libation on the marker’s sidewalk in homage to ancestors.
